This six-year follow up reveals that the gender-transformative Bandebereho program has sustained positive effects on reducing intimate partner violence (IPV) and physical punishment of children. Conducted over six years, the trial shows that participants continue to experience improved maternal health-seeking behaviors, enhanced couple communication, and equitable decision-making within households. The program’s emphasis on engaging men in reproductive and maternal health, alongside promoting non-violent and collaborative couple relations, has led to lasting changes in gender norms and power dynamics. These findings underscore the effectiveness of long-term, community-based interventions in fostering healthier and more equitable family environments.
