Dr. Martin Ssendyona serves as the Head of Department responsible for the quality of healthcare (Standard Compliance Accreditation and Patient Protection Department) within the Ugandan Ministry of Health (MoH). He has served in this position for the past three years after working in a hospital setting for over 15 years.

Dr. Martin Ssendyona studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania, and later completed a Masters in Public Health at Loma Linda University, USA and a Fellowship in Health Services Management from Makerere University. As a clinician, Dr. Ssendyona was exposed to various cases of care and support for mothers, newborn and children before he joined the Ministry of Health in 2007. In his role, Dr. Martin Ssendyona chairs the monthly MoH Quality of Care (QoC) Learning Committee meetings which coordinate alignment of implementation of MNH QoC services and support in the country. He additionally serves as a board member for Masaka Regional Referral Hospital and Chair Board of Governors for Nkozi General Hospital.
