Dr. Linda Valencia is a Gynecologist and Obstetrician from Guatemala, a leader in the field of sexual and reproductive health. She was president of the Society of Gynecologists and Obstetricians of Guatemala from where she led support programs with the Ministry of Health for maternal health projects with the medical community and community health providers and traditional midwives, with a focus on reducing maternal mortality and increasing access to high-quality health services based on respect for human rights. Dr. Valencia has also participated in the elaboration of regulations and clinical management guides for the provision of maternal and neonatal services to ensure more humane and dignified services for women in Guatemala. She currently manages the incorporation of obstetric violence-free humanitarian clinical services in the private sector and is an international maternal health and human rights consultant. Dr. Valencia is the first Latin American physician to win the Maternal Health Visionary Award from the Harvard University School of Public Health.
