On April 23, 2026, the Postpartum Hemorrhage Community of Practice (PPH CoP) hosted a webinar to examine an emerging medication safety concern linked to the expanded use of tranexamic acid in obstetric care and PPH management.
Speakers explored how look‑alike medications and system‑level factors contribute to inadvertent intrathecal tranexamic acid (TXA) administration and shared evidence‑informed, practical strategies that health systems have implemented to prevent these errors. The session offered global and country‑level –including South Africa and Uganda—perspectives, real‑world implementation experience, and actionable approaches to strengthen medication safety as PPH care continues to scale worldwide.
