This study provides critical insights into the nutritional challenges and growth trajectories of infants with moderately low birth weight (MLBW) in low-resource environments. Conducted across multiple sites, the research tracked 1,114 infants over six months, revealing that early initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months were associated with better growth outcomes. Despite these positive practices, a significant proportion of infants did not regain their birth weight by two weeks, and by six months, 32.6% were stunted, 25.8% were underweight, and 10.2% were wasted. The study underscores the importance of targeted nutritional interventions and support for breastfeeding to improve growth and health outcomes for MLBW infants in resource-limited settings.
