MNH Metrics and Measurement

Measuring global progress towards MNH targets is only possible when countries have reliable data on maternal and newborn deaths and stillbirths. However, in many settings, measurement systems are not able to accurately capture and generate data needed to monitor global MNH targets. Comprehensive data sources can provide necessary insight into maternal and newborn mortality and inform responsive polices and programs. This section of the Knowledge Hub offers resources that may be useful for maternal and newborn health stakeholders, including policymakers, program managers, advocates, researchers, public health practitioners and others to learn more about MNH metrics and utilize practical data tools and resources in the pursuit of reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths.
