Since first identified in early December 2019 in Wuhan, China, the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has infected more than 7.5 million individuals to date. Although the pandemic has reached nearly every country in the world, certain populations are at heightened risk for infection with SARS-CoV-2. Pregnant women and their children may be vulnerable to infection due to physiological changes associated with pregnancy.
