Nafisa Jiddawi
Founder & CEO
WAJAMAMA
Tanzania
Nafisa Jiddawi believes that every woman — regardless of where she lives or her socioeconomic background — deserves access to comprehensive, dignified healthcare. Full stop.
As a social impact leader, clinician, and systems builder with over 16 years of experience in women’s, maternal, and child health, patient advocacy, and community development across Zanzibar and the United States, she has dedicated her life to turning that belief into reality.
Nafisa is the visionary behind WAJAMAMA — and she is committed to dismantling the barriers that prevent women from accessing the holistic healthcare they deserve, including mental health services that are so often overlooked. She envisions a world where every woman is the healthiest version of herself — physically, mentally, and socially — standing in her full power and potential.
At the heart of this vision is a deep understanding that when we invest in a woman’s well-being, we invest in the future. By prioritizing the holistic health of women, and their children during the critical first 1,000 days from conception, Nafisa and her team at WAJAMAMA are building the foundation for a world where every child has a healthy and beautiful start in life — and where every family has an equal opportunity to thrive.
Nafisa is a triple board-certified Family and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse-Midwife. She holds degrees from Georgetown University, George Washington University, and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
